The course Provide Pain Management (PUAEM005A) is designed to cover those who may be required to administer anaesthetics (pain relief) during their duties as a first aider. This course develops the skills on how to assess pain and administer a pain relief medication when clinically indicated while maintaining the legal requirements of the use of such medications.

Course Delivery times:

Monday- 9am-2pm = face to face class and a prerequisite of HLTAIDoo3 (provide first aid).

Content:

This course provides you with skills and knowledge for all who may be required to perform provide pain management in a range of emergency situations, including community and workplace settings;

  • Identify need for analgesia
  • Contraindications and precautions for the use of analgesic drug are identified and the use being appropriate for casualty is confirmed
  • Communicate with casualty to provide comfort and instructions in use of analgesic drug as required
  • Access and prepare analgesic
  • Perform casualty handover
  • Complete analgesic use requirements
  • Pain management
  • Storage and documentation
  • Request for an ambulance and/or medical assistance according to relevant circumstances and report casualty condition
  • Use literacy and numeracy skills as required to read, interpret and apply guidelines and protocols

Transfers are available 24 hours prior to the commencement time.

  • A transfer to another date will be issued if we receive a request 24 hours prior to your nominated course commencement time and may incur a $10.00 (gst included) administration fee per transfer.
  • If a request is not received within 24 hours of the course commencement time, participant will forfeit 100% of the course fee.

 

REFUND POLICY: A refund is given if a written request is received 5 days prior to the scheduled course commencement time and an administration fee of $22 (gst included) will be incurred. All refund requests must be in writing addressed to Safety First Aid emailed to admin@safetyfirstaid.com.au. Refunds will be issued within 5 days of receiving the cancellation documentation. If a written request is not received within 5 days of the course commencement time, the participant will forfeit 100% of the course fee.
